Meet our Service Manager, Blake. He has been with Sanders Plumbing since 2014, starting as a technician and working his way up to management.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you on the job?
Blake: We found a girl’s ID in a toilet drain at a local bar once. They supposedly got in touch with her to return it. I’ve pulled all kinds of things out of drains- diapers, jeans, underwear, and more pocket knives than you would believe.
What is the worst nightmare plumbing job you have ever completed?
Blake: Years ago, we were working on opening and replacing a customer’s sewer line. We asked him not to flush his toilet for a short period and he swore he did not. We went to cut into the sewer line and found it was under pressure, and as soon as it was opened, a fountain of waste shot out like a rainbow across the sky with the sun shining through. It sprayed all over us and the side of the house. I cussed a lot that day.
If you were a plumbing tool, which one would you be, and why?
Blake: A pair of channel locks (a type of heavy pliers) because they are the go-to tool for everything.
Which jobs have you held in the past and how did you become a plumber?
Blake: I first started plumbing work when I was 19 years old. When I first applied at Sanders Plumbing, I had just come off the road as a commercial plumber and I needed a job, so I applied, and later Pete called me. And here I am.
What do you believe makes a successful company?
Blake: Team players and good leadership. You are only as good as your people. Sanders Plumbing is different because we have that. We have good leaders, a good team, and a good backbone. We know how to cooperate and educate. At Sanders Plumbing, we strive to give best plumbing and customer service around, and it is my duty to make sure that gets done daily.
